Broncos’ Ryan Clady: Peyton Manning is just better than Tim Tebow

AP

When the news broke that Peyton Manning is on the way to Denver and Tim Tebow is on the way out, Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady offered a very simple explanation of the reason for the Broncos’ change at quarterback.

“At the end of the day, Peyton Manning is just better than Tim Tebow,” Clady told ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

When the news broke that Manning had chosen the Broncos, Clady was succinct on Twitter, writing simply, “Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Broncos linebacker Von Miller offered a similarly pro-Peyton sentiment.

“I love Tim Tebow on and off the field — he is a great teammate,” Miller told Anderson. “But we can learn a lot more from Peyton Manning because he’s been to Super Bowls, he’s a four-time MVP.”

So there’s no doubt that in the Broncos’ locker room, this is welcome news. Tebow was the man who led them to the playoffs last year, but Manning is the man they want leading them going forward.

    Gee, ya think?

  2. Hey Broncs, have you seen Peyton’s playoff resume BEFORE his 4 neck surgeries??
    Peyton ain’t leadin’ you anywhere.

  3. who knows how that neck is gonna hold up after a jarring hit so someone please find out. I want everybody in this equation to lose cause I hate everybody

  4. First. I was wrong, I thought it would be the 49ers and that was a no brainer. As an Indiana guy I have watched Peyton for 14 years and now that it is close to being done, I just can’t imagine him in a Broncos uniform, but that appears to be what’s happening. Manning at 72% is better than Tebow at 100% in Broncos minds and the question becomes should Tebow change positions because the guy has heart, and could be a FB or TE or Slot. Just don’t think he throws well enough to be an NFL QB.
Time for the dominoes to start tumbling.

  5. Now Manning has a running game and a great defense in Denver. I to think its just a matter of time before they are in the SB.

  6. I hate to see Tebow constantly cruxified by the media and other players. All the kid wants to do is lead a team and do what he loves. I hope he gets on a team that will appreciate him, and lead them to a title before manning wins another. Elway is still a horsefaced jackass.

  7. What a bunch of classless A-holes. I hope Tebow gets some respect on his new team. He’s a winner and a hard worker, and he deserves it.

  8. The trufe is the trufe. Looks like the Broncos themselves were not swept up by Tebowmania. Good for them.

  9. Wow, and here I thought all this time that Timmy Tebow was BETTER than Manning! Thanks for clearing that up, Clady.

  10. Tebow is a nice kid but he isn’t a QB. Of course all the players would rather play with Manning than a guy who can’t even throw a spiral.

Why because they are trying to win? What is the purpose of all this? It is to win and Manning gives them the best chance to. Tebow doesn’t deserve anything and everyone works hard. Tebow will get what he deserves when he earns it.

Tebow was the reason for the great run game. Watch it disappear….

  13. Well, Mr. Clady, make sure you actually protect Manning from getting hurt next season and you’ll do great.

He’ll be very lucky if his “new team” is even an NFL team…

  15. Nobody threw anyone under the bus. Elway simply hired a better player than the one that he already had at quarterback. It happens every day in every sport on every team. Why is this such a surprise to everyone?
Everyone acts like this is the biggest act of high treason the world has ever seen. Get over it people, its football and Elway is trying to win.

  16. Once again being a hard worker and excellent human means nothing to your teammates. Manning is the best choice of course but maybe you guys could let the news go lukewarm before shoving Tebow under the bus. Just Sayin.

  17. I’m probably one of the few Broncos who ain’t all that excited. We need more than a 36 years old Crick neck QB with a fivehead to get better. Our defense has more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. Good luck Tebow, I really believe you will get better. I just don’t know about this, it don’t feel right…

  18. “Hey yelix, we hate you too. Now go screw yourself.”

Wow, did I say something about this guy’s mom?

All I said was (and I’m not the only one) that it’s not very classy to just throw Tebow under the bus like that. I don’t disagree with Clady, but that’s just not something you say on the record to an ESPN reporter.

  19. Did they really need to do this? What’s the point? Peyton’s ego doesn’t need the massage and there’s no reason to stomp on Tebow.

  20. And why is this “Peyton Manning guy news? What has he ever accomplished?

The big news is Sexy Rexy re-upped for a year in DC! He is blessing the Skins’ with one more year of excellence. All Peyton was waiting for was Rex to sign so all the limelight can go on Peyton.

Thumbs up if you agree or Thumbs down if you agree! Or neither means you agree!

    I’m so pumped! HTTR!

  21. All those expensive Tebow jerseys and now you get to start digging in your pockets to plunk down some more hard earned cash for some Manning Jerseys…..

  22. Clady better hope he doesn’t get cut, then have his career depend on trying out for the team that brings on Tebow.

Sure, he’s right. No reason to have to say it, though.

  23. I don’t know what the Broncos are thinking. Peyton Manning was great, maybe the greatest, but he has a NECK INJURY for Pete’s sake! The surgeons may say he’s OK but you just KNOW he will be fragile.

I think it will be highly ironic when Manning is injured in the first half of the season and Tebow is off at some other team WINNING.

  24. Hopefully Mr. Tebow will use this as motivation to become a more complete QB. If he really wants to become an elite QB he should spending a minimum 40 hrs a week in the preseason studying tape and working on mechanics. Admirable though it may be he would need to put aside his charitable and speaking engagements and start immediately.

  25. They should have broke the news to Tebow by sending him a picture message of Peyton tebowing in a broncos jersey.

  27. Way to be classy Ryan.

Enjoy the next few years of watching the playoffs from your couch.

    Broncos:
    2012 6-10
    2013 8-8
    2014 7-9

  28. Wow! sounds like they cant wait to put him on a bus to the airport. How easily you forget that he made your crappy a$$ team good last year.

  29. I feel bad for Tebow. I’m not a huge Tebow person but I think he’s a nice guy. I completely understand that the Broncos are excited about getting a great player but this open celebrating and woohooing publicly is pretty disrespectful to the guy you rode to the playoffs last year.

  30. What degree did he get in college to make that statement???
I thought the Bronco fans were in love with Tebow??? What happens now, to all of them???

  31. Of course they should be excite about Peyton over tebow! If someone would rather have tebow they better get their head checked out

  32. personally, he is going to a team with alot holes everywhere. the defense
really isn’t as good as advertised. they got demolished by the
patriots in the playoffs. they were motivated by tim tebow.
the running game isn’t that good. the reason why willis mcgahee had
over 1000= tim tebow..because defense had to account for him running
the ball. they ran a lot of draws, which is known for getting a lot of
rushing yards than a lot of standard running plays. They offensive
line is very suspect. and who are your receivers? i’ll give you
    demarius thomas..and maybe..possibly eric decker..but who else.
bad move for denver and bad move for peyton manning because he is
going to a place where i guarantee eli will win at least 1-2 more
superbowls than peyton will ever get back to the AFC championship game for the next 5 years! smh

Because 2 Super Bowl appearances and only 1 Super Bowl win makes him a loser?

Manning’s route to the Super Bowl was not exactly an easy one with the Steelers and Patriots in the way. They haven’t had a stranglehold on the Lamar Hunt Trophy by accident.

Go watch some pee-wee football, then. Welcome to the NFL, where winning is everything. Grow up.

  35. So, let me get this straight…..Broncos players and fans LOVE the move….

The fans of the other 31 teams HATE the move….That’s surprising to me…wow. Never would have guessed that.

How about all non-Bronco fans go troll your news about signing a 3rd team Tight End or 4th string Safety.

  36. Hali off the edge. Beats Clady. and…..BANG…… Manning finishes life, drinking through a straw……

but hey he has enough money for the best care possible!

I’m gonna go out on a limb here but my guess is you’ve been tagged “Johnny McBuzzKill” once or twice before eh?

  38. I am NOT a broncos fan. Tebow has some athletic ability, there is no doubt about that. He definitely has the potential to be a good football player but not a the QB position. Those of you who act all shocked that the Broncos would go get PM and get rid of Tebow are obviously not actual Broncos fans. IHe is a nice guy and he gives it 110% when he is on the field I won’t argue that for a second. The truth though is that PM at 20% is a better QB than Tebow at 110%. The Broncos won in spite of Tebow most of the time not because of him. I know that statement will bring arguements but i watched a lot of the broncos comeback wins that were completely credited to Tebow. It wasn’t tebow. It was the defense and the kicker. Denver’s WRs didn’t get enough credit either. OCCASIONALLY Tebow made a good throw but for the most part the WRs were diving to catch ten yard passes because Tebow wasn’t even accurate at that distance. I am sorry Tebow lovers but PM is a hall of fame QB who can probably throw better lefthanded than Tebow. Those of you who think Tebow is going to show denver by winning a SB as a QB are completely delusional.

  39. I’m not sure what side of the bed u a$$hole$ woke up on but comments saying manning could get hurt r ridiculous. I am a pure manning fan and will follow him anywhere he goes. I like tebow too and its definately messed up the way everything has been handled but everything happens for a reason. si for all u damn haters out there shut the hell up and deal with being jealous of manning another way. CONGRATS MANNING and BRONCOS

  40. If not for Tebow the broncos would never have even had a shot to get Manning cause when Orton was the starter the offence couldn’t do anything and that defense wasn’t stopping anybody
