Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets are making an “aggressive push” to sign free agent safety LaRon Landry.

Likewise, Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com reports the Jets are “trying to sign” Landry after his Sunday visit to the club’s Florham Park facility.

While the Jets have also shown recent interest in free agent safety O.J. Atogwe, the Landry and Atogwe pursuits appear to be independent of each other. Atogwe is almost strictly a free safety. Landry is an in-the-box strong safety. They play different positions.

Landry is the highest rated unsigned safety left on the PFT Hot 100.
