The NFL world is focused on Peyton Manning and other free agents right now, but the draft is right around the corner.
Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is one of the players expected to go on the first day of the draft and we’re starting to get an idea about which teams might be interested in adding him to their secondary. Scout.com reports that Kirkpatrick has lined up visits with 10 NFL teams before the draft gets underway on April 26th.
The Bills, Cowboys, Jaguars, Vikings, Buccaneers, Ravens, Lions and Titans are listed as eight of the teams that will meet with Kirkpatrick. Morris Claiborne of LSU is expected to be the first cornerback off the board with Kirkpatrick and North Alabama’s Janoris Jenkins believed to be contending for the second spot on team’s lists.
Kirkpatrick didn’t blow anyone away with his combine workouts, but his production on the field with the Crimson Tide was quite good. He also has the kind of size — 6’2″, 192 pounds — that teams covet on the edges. One potential red flag on Kirkpatrick was alleviated when marijuana possession charges against him were dropped last month.
