The New York Post reports that the Jets have expressed an interest in free agent running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Per Brian Costello of the Post, however, the interest is “preliminary” and no visit has been scheduled for Green-Ellis at the Jets’ Florham Park facility.

As Florio has explained, the 2012 free agent running back market has been painfully slow to develop. Top unsigned backs Green-Ellis, Michael Bush, Cedric Benson, Brandon Jacobs, and Justin Forsett all remain without contracts, and only a couple of them have even made free agent visits.

Green-Ellis visited the Bengals on Monday. Perhaps he’ll visit Rex Ryan’s team next.
