Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III’s Pro Day flew under the radar amid a flurry of big Wednesday NFL news. The New Orleans Saints’ football organization was leveled by league-imposed discipline, and Tim Tebow was (nearly) traded to the Jets.

But when a tree falls in the forest, it does make a sound. Even if nobody hears it.

Griffin made 51 throws at the Pro Day, and NFL.com’s Gil Brandt counted just two as uncatchable. “His arm strength is very, very good,” wrote Brandt. “He threw the ball with ease 60 yards downfield. ... Griffin has excellent feet, and he’s equally good going to his right or his left.

”... I’m not sure whether he or Andrew Luck should be the No. 1 overall draft pick.”

ESPN’s Ron Jaworski is especially high on Griffin’s NFL prospects, and Jaws was also in attendance at the Baylor workout.

“The throws he made were all bona fide NFL-type throws,” Jaworski said, per the Associated Press. “He’s going to be a superstar at the next level. He put on a clinical exhibition here today. That Redskins contingency left here all with big smiles on their faces.”

Pro Day workouts shouldn’t have a major influence on draft stock, but Griffin’s game tape is also No. 1 overall pick-caliber. At least Merril Hoge says it is.
