A league source tells PFT that the Cincinnati Bengals hosted free agent defensive end Matt Roth on Friday.

The Bengals later signed Jamaal Anderson and Derrick Harvey, two former top-ten draft busts. Roth has been a much more effective NFL defender than the players added by Cincinnati, so perhaps the club hasn’t ruled out signing him.

Roth can play both outside linebacker and defensive end. He’d be an end in the Bengals’ 4-3 scheme.

Though Roth finished last season on the injured reserve list with a concussion, he recently told the Florida Times-Union that he’s been given a “clean bill of health.”

Roth is the No. 59 overall player on the PFT Hot 100.
