Reebok making one last push with Tebow jerseys

Tim Tebow's New York Jets shirts are put up for display in New York

Trading for Tim Tebow and bringing “Tebowmania” to New York quickened the pulse of Jets fans in the Big Apple, which has already had a “Linsane” love affair this winter with the heartwarming rise of unsung Jeremy Lin with the NBA’s Knicks. On April 3, Nike will unveil its new line of NFL jerseys. Until then, Reebok retains the exclusive apparel contract.

And so, with Tim Tebow being traded to the Jets, Reebok gets one last shot to move some merchandise.

At NFLShop.com, Reebok-manufactured Tebow jerseys can be purchased. Only nine days before the flip gets switched to Nike. (Curiously, the Peyton Manning jerseys currently available at NFLShop.com are manufactured neither by Reebok nor by Nike.)

With all due respect to the folks at Reebok, fans should wait for the Nike jerseys. Even if, as expected, there are no changes to the appearance of the Jets jerseys, there apparently will be differences in the way they are made.

And, obviously, the Jets jerseys Tebow actually wears will have a Nike, not Reebok, logo on the sleeves.

It’s hard to fault Reebok for trying to cash in on Tebowmania. Still, smart consumers will delay any jersey purchases, for any player, until April 3.
