Free agent tight end Jeremy Shockey recently expressed concern that Warren Sapp’s bounty-scandal-snitch allegations against him might put Shockey out of an NFL job.’s Pat Yasinskas, however, reports that the Panthers “remain in contact” with Shockey’s agent, and the veteran tight end has informed the club he wants to re-sign for the upcoming season.

Shockey remains an effective run blocker going on age 32, and was a plus in the receiving game last season, as well. Playing alongside Greg Olsen in two-tight end sets, Shockey caught 37 balls for 455 yards and four touchdowns.

Shockey was Carolina’s fifth leading receiver, behind Steve Smith, Jonathan Stewart, Olsen, and Legedu Naanee.
