Payton, Loomis appeals will be heard Tuesday

To the extent that Commissioner Roger Goodell intended to give Saints coach Sean Payton an “expedited” hearing on the appeal of his one-season suspension, Goodell has used the expedited version of the term “expedited.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the hearings for Payton and G.M. Mickey Loomis will occur on Tuesday, April 3. The appeals were filed on Friday, March 30.

Goodell said last week that, if Payton appeals, both the hearing and the decision will be expedited. So to the extent that Payton filed the appeal to buy some extra time for draft preparation and/or Tuna fishing, Payton may not get much time at all.

UPDATE 11:27 a.m. ET: Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that all appeals will be heard this week, including the appeal filed by assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt and the appeal filed by the team.
