After just a couple days of offseason work with new coach Greg Schiano and his staff, Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber has already sensed that things are going to be different in Tampa Bay.

Barber told the Tampa Tribune that the new coaching staff has already clearly explained what its expectations are, and he hinted that Raheem Morris and the old coaching staff were a little more casual in their approach.

“They have a very direct purpose,” Barber said. “The ship’s a little bit tighter than it was last year, but that’s a good thing. We needed direction. We have a bunch of young men that need guidance and [Schiano] is giving it to them. He’s very direct about it and I think that’s the way it should be. I like the approach and I think it’ll work well for us.”

Players often called Morris by his first name or shortened it to “Rah,” but when Barber caught himself calling Schiano “Greg,” he quickly corrected himself.

“I got together with Mark and Greg, or coach Schiano I should say, and we had a conversation,” Barber said.

Coach Schiano is making his expectations clear, and one of those expectations is the players don’t call him Greg.
