The Texans didn’t extend a tender offer to safety Quintin Demps as a restricted free agent, but he’ll be back with the team anyway.

The team announced Thursday that they have re-signed Demps. Terms of the contract were not disclosed in the statement released by the Texans.

Demps signed with the team in October after failing to make the final cut out of training camp. He recorded 22 tackles and two interceptions in nine regular season games and also returned five kickoffs. He added three more tackles in the Texans’ two playoff games. He’ll fight Shiloh Keo and Troy Nolan for playing time behind Glover Quin and Danieal Manning.

He originally joined the Texans late in the 2010 season after a stint in the UFL following his departure from the Eagles. Demps, a fourth-round pick in 2008, was waived by the Eagles before the start of his third season with the team.
