Jets, Patriots and Eagles are options for Yeremiah Bell

Free agent safety Yeremiah Bell won’t return to the Dolphins, but he may end up signing with the Jets, Patriots or Eagles.

That’s the word from Bell’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, who said on WSVN (via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald) that Bell definitely won’t be back with the Dolphins.

Rosenhaus said the Jets, Patriots and Eagles have all shown interest, although it’s not clear whether any of those teams have actually offered Bell a contract.

Bell has spent his entire eight-season NFL career with the Dolphins. In the last four seasons he has started every game but one.

  1. As a Fins Fan, his release bothers me more than Brandon Marshall. He is a solid, but aging Player and had a huge Salary against the Cap. He has lost a step, but as a SS he can still provide help for CBs. He is smart on the field and a great Tackler. In fact, led the Dolphins for 2 years in a row. Not sure that states how good he is or how bad the Dolphins have been that the action is beyond the LBs? With a Pass happy NFL and the emergence of TE targets, he is doomed against the speed in the middle. Unfortunaltey, a victim Veteran that had to go because of money.

Anyway, the Fins would like to resign him, but with Rosenhaus as an Agent, it wont happen. I doubt he gets signed before the Draft and their is plenty of SSs in the Draft for pennies on the dollar. Good Luck to you Yeremiah. I dont want you in the AFC East, but if you must; go to the Pats and maybe get a Ring. The Pats only have about 2 more years with Brady before the big decline. The Jets are a bigger disaster than the Fins and the Eagles are no where near Playoffs with Giants and Cowboys ahead of them.

  2. If you click the link to the article, it states one of the reasons the fins are getting rid of him is because the FS and SS will be used interchangeably, which is how the Eagles D works. Plus, he’s 34 years old (after 8 years in the league?? Danny Watkins anyone???) I smell Drew trying to scare up a market for his player, doubt the Eagles sign him.

  3. Sign him Eagles . Let him , Coleman , and Jarret fight it out for the other starting spot and I guarantee Bell wins the job . Bell has 4 straight seasons of 100+ tackles and Philadelphia hasn’t had production like that since B Dawk

  4. @laxcoach: In what world are the Cowboys ahead of us ? We beat them twice and we split with the Giants. Every team is “behind” the Giants cause they won the Super Bowl but Philly was 5-1 in the division last year and will be a dangerous team to sleep on this year.

  5. laxcoach… I didn’t realize you were clueless untill your last sentence.. Philly can’t make the playoffs because of Giants and Dallas? Maybe you should go back and watch those games… We dominated our division last year.. we didn’t do anything else right outside the division.. but we the NFC East to get on like they been sh!t on.. matter of fact only lost one game inside the division lastyear.. The Giants took out Vick on one of their late bounty hits and Kafka joined the party with 2 pick 6s.. We were winning b4 Vick got taken out.. lol Coughlin was on the sideline like Conrad Kai… Sweep the leg… then flop and play hurt with 12 men on the field.

  6. Bell was a very good player and a strong leader for the Dolphins. He is a great tackler and run stopper but he lacks coverage ability. This is one player I wish they would have kept.

Go to the Pats and maybe get a ring? The Pats have already proven lately that they can’t get a ring without cheating.

  8. @laxcoach-

You do realize that the Cowboys have made the playoffs only once or twice in the past…IDK 15 years or so. And the Eagles have made the playoffs 8 out of the past 11 years. Yeah…them Cowpokes are really holding us back.

  9. I guess I’m not opposed to the Jets going after him.

Rex typically prefers sending out two strong safeties instead of a true strong and free safety, so he’d have a place to play, especially with Landry’s injury concerns.

He’s definitely better than Eric Smith, so anything that pushes him further down the depth chart I can live with.

  10. This would be a great sign for the Eagles, he would only be a one year deal, and Todd Bowles was responsible for his success in Miami as he has been with him since the beginning of his career. With the corners the Eagles have, they have less a need for a “center field” safety, they need help tackling and Bell is a tackle machine. He could teach the young guys a thing or two as an on-field coach and given the injuries to the Eagles safeties, he would be welcomed depth.

  11. As a Fins fan I hope he lands with the Jets or Pats, and that he balls out against us. He is a solid saftey that was cut by our moron led staff, only to be replaced by a horrible Saftey.

  12. Would provide solid veteran player on Pats back line of D if he can still move well enough and assuming that the cost is reasonable.

Usually Pats don’t like their interest publicized by agents so I wonder if they are really in game or is Drew Rosenhaus using their name to try to manufacture market and/or drive up price a bit for others to pay.

I see that, once again, I hooked one more member of the wussy New England fan base. Biggest crybaby sports fans on the planet.

BTW, it was your buddy “patpatriot” who was gone for two weeks…and the first thing that he did was to look for MY posts.

As with him, I OWN YOU.

  14. he got beat against the pass, he lost a step, but on the tackling he was a machine would be a solid pick up for any team.

  15. Guaranteed the jets sign this guy. They have turned into the elephant grave yard for slow old or undersized saftys or sometimes the find all these qualities in one guy. hooo rayyy for the brain trust that turned us from contender to crap heep in less time then a Kardashian marriage.

  16. I generally dont reply to my Posts, but I have to in this case. Didn’t realize how sensitive you Eagles Fans were… Maybe the Dream Team crap has your panties in twist, but correct me if I’m wrong here but the Cowboys and Eagles were both 8-8? Also, both Teams went to the Playoffs about the same in the past 10 years. It is a very balanced Division ( with exception to the Redskins and if RG3 is what they hope, they can win 7 games and get better in the next 2 years).

I am NOT a Cowboy Fan, but your Teams are both good, but not good enough. Who cares if you went 9-7 or 13-3? Neither Team can win in the Playoffs. The Giants play well when it counts, so neither is getting past them. Just like no one in the AFC East is going further than the Pats. My opinion is the Cowboys are getting better and this parallels the Bills in this Division. Again, the Eagles are like the Jets… Good records and nothing to show for it. After a while the big spending hurts and you fall back. You can whine about Vick got hurt or you almost Won, but the reality is… The Truth Hurts. As a Dolphins Fan, I know this all too well.

we are not sensitive , we are just realistic about football.
we run the NFC east , end of story.
we always have the giants number , every year.
one year we beat them almost 3 times in row.
The only difference is the giants get it together in the playoffs.
You better get used to philly green on T.V. next year , because thats all your going to see on sports center highlights.
This team is talented , deep and very well managed with no holes. A full off season of training camp is going to do wonders for the eagles, getting bell would be a bonus , that is about it.
