Heisman winner Robert Griffin III may not be participating in any private workouts, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be taking any private meetings.
At a time when the Redskins already are reportedly visiting with Griffin twice per week in Texas, Griffin is visiting with the Redskins in the D.C. area, according to WUSA9.com.
Griffin was spotted, per the report, at a local restaurant restaurant with Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen, and head coach Mike Shanahan.
It’s unknown whether Griffin has visited or will be visiting the team’s facility on or has worked out or will be working out for the team at its headquarters or doing anything else in D.C. other than eating dinner and hanging out with the folks who run the franchise.
It’s also unknown whether the Colts have invited Griffin to clear out his sinus cavities with the cocktail sauce at St. Elmo’s in Indy, and whether if invited Griffin has accepted. But the tea leaves continue to point toward Griffin wanting the Redskins, the Redskins wanting Griffin, and both sides hoping that the always-unpredictable Colts owner Jim Irsay doesn’t catch a wild hair on the early evening of April 26 and select Griffin over Luck.
UPDATE 9:44 a.m. ET: A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Griffin was and still is in the D.C. area. He’s meeting with the Redskins, but not working out — in part because the pre-draft workouts can’t occur at team facilities.
