The Chargers have signed another free agent.  This one is one of their own.

Fullback Jacob Hester has agreed to terms on a one-year deal, the team announced Friday night.

The Chargers say that Hester will back up Le’Ron McClain, who joined the Chargers last month.

Hester, a third-round pick in 2008, has appeared in 62 games during his four seasons with the Chargers.  He was the team’s special-teams captain in 2011.

  1. Solid player on special teams, & provides valuable depth to the position to allow for a little breathing room, for how Norv may use McClain. Sweet!

  2. Once the Chargers saw he visited his Brother in Law, Matt Flynn at the Seahawks facility they figured their bluff wouldn’t work.

  3. This makes 20 signings this off season for the Chargers.

Man, I thought AJ Smith was hated and nobody wanted to play for him? I’m so confused! 😉

  4. Hester needs to be used as a power back like he was at LSU hes not big enough to be a FB he filled in well and gained tough yards when Mathews and tolbert went down in the same game when they only carried 2 RBs and Hester as the FB

I never got how a 5’9″ guy plays FB?

How about 5-11 and 235. Typical size for a fullback. Maybe you’re just confused.

  6. This guy is kind of a wasted talent- he’s stuck trying to block for bad backs now.
