Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas caused a stir when he said he wasn’t sad to see Tim Tebow leave Denver. Now Thomas has attempted to revise and extend those remarks.
“It wasn’t no hard feelings or nothing against Tim,” Thomas said on KKFN in Denver, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “He’s a great player. If we had him, I’d love to have him. If we had him still, there wouldn’t be no problem me playing with him. It’s just that we’ve got another quarterback now. I really don’t talk about much about Tim no more, since he’s not here with us.”
Thomas isn’t apologizing for his complaints that Tebow didn’t get him the ball often enough, that Tebow missed throws or that Tebow misread defenses. And he isn’t hiding the fact that he’s excited about playing with Peyton Manning. What Thomas is saying, however, is that he likes Tebow and wishes him well. And that’s all he’s saying.
“I’m not even gonna talk about it,” Thomas said. “He’s with the New York Jets, I’m proud for him. I’ve got a new quarterback, and me now, it’s all about the Denver Broncos.”
Thomas has learned a valuable lesson in all this, however: Don’t mess with Tebowmania.
“I was just answering the questions, you know?” Thomas said. “But ever since the interview, it’s just been — I’ve been getting badmouthed left and right.”
And with that, Thomas says he’s done talking about Tebow.
