The Vikings could have gotten USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil if they stayed at the third pick in the draft.

They were able to add three picks as a result of their deal with the Browns, however, and still wound up with the player they wanted with the fourth pick. Kalil is the top left tackle in the draft and will step in as the starter for the Vikings on the day he signs. Minnesota desperately needed an upgrade at the position and Kalil should help both Adrian Peterson and Christian Ponder next season.

Kalil has been linked with the Vikings for quite some time, but the last week saw some doubt cast on whether they wanted him or not. They sent plenty of feints toward LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, but, in the end, Kalil turned out to be their man.
