Earlier this afternoon, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reported that the Giants have extended the contract of defensive end/linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka.
A league source has supplied us with the full details.
For starters, Kiwanuka will receive $10.95 million fully guaranteed. That comes from an $8.5 million signing bonus, a $950,000 fully-guaranteed base salary, and $1.5 million in fully-guaranteed base salary for 2013.
The total base salary for 2013 is $2.95 million. In 2014, Kiwanuka is due to earn a base salary of $4.375 million. In the final year of the deal, Kiwanuka is scheduled to receive a base salary of $4.775 million.
There’s a $50,000 workout bonus in each year of the deal, and an escalator of up to $1 million tied to sacks in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
