Browns reel in 15 undrafted rookies

The Cleveland Browns plan to wait until their May 11 rookie camp to announce their 2012 undrafted rookie class. Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon-Journal has tracked down the Browns’ UDFAs, though, and 15 of them have been confirmed.

Here they are:

James Madison cornerback Mike Allen, Akron guard Jake Anderson, Stanford cornerback Jonathan Bademosi, Idaho tackle Matt Cleveland, Oklahoma State receiver Josh Cooper, East Carolina cornerback Emanuel Davis, Northern Iowa linebacker L.J. Fort, Arizona State guard/center Garth Gerhart, Wyoming safety Tashaun Gipson, Florida State defensive end William Green, Florida State receiver Bert Reed, Pittsburgh cornerback Antwuan Reed, Missouri State receiver Jermaine Saffold, Ohio State tackle J.B. Shugarts, and Ohio State linebacker Andrew Sweat.

Davis (pictured) entered his senior year highly regarded by NFL scouts. He has some character question marks and ran 4.65 at 5-foot-10, 194 during the Pirates’ March 22 Pro Day, however, knocking him out of the draft. Davis was invited to the East-West Shrine Game. He played lots of special teams early in his career and could develop into a slot cornerback in the NFL.

  1. I want Matt Cleveland to make the team so I can buy a redundant jersey.

Well, their practice squad is set.

Actually that’s where half their draft picks are going to end up so I don’t know what these 15 guys have to look forward to.

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cooper make the Browns. He doesn’t do anything really flashy, but always seemed to come up with the catch for OSU and was a nice possession receiver.

  4. Look for Cooper to make the squad. He should have some chemistry with Weeden. But, please Heckert, Jabar Gaffney was just released– go after him!

  5. Should have gotten Bobby Rainey when they had the chance, now he’s a Raven, grrr

  6. Who cares, the Browns are going to suck. Richardson and Weeden will do nothing. Plan to hear…”And with the first pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select ……”
Proof that the Browns had a horrible draft in selecting Weeden in the first round and should’ve waited.

Ha. Passive aggressive trollery much? So easy to see right through.

  8. I seen the missouri st WR saffold play once last yr, very impressive.. I think he’ll make the team & see alot a playing time.. Ide keep your eye on him.. I couldnt believe he didnt get drated

  9. I can’t believe how many people are sleeping on Johnson Bademosi, FS, the college FA pick up out of Stanford!

The kid had a freakish pro-day:

    He’s 6’1″, about 202lbs.

    Was timed in the 40yd @ 4.32, 4.36 and 4.38

    Had a 40″ vertical

    Bench pressed 225lbs – 17x

Broad jump was 10’05” – the kid started over 30+ at right corner. With his athletic ability you could put him at Safety, Corner or KR and will be on special teams.

A definate project, but as a free agent – he is the most versatile out of the group.

He would provide versatility to a maligned roster

  10. Davis, will complete the team, he demonstrates, hard work, dedication and commitment. Davis would be an EXCELLENT PICK..
