DeMarco Murray burst onto the scene as a rookie running back for the Cowboys last season, gaining 253 yards in his first game as the team’s primary ball carrier. But his season was cut short in Week 14, when he suffered a broken ankle against the Giants.

Now there’s good news on Murray’s health: He says he is already recovered, and if the season started Sunday he’d be on the field.

“Everyone keeps asking me how I’m feeling,” Murray wrote on Twitter. “Let’s just say if there was a game this Sunday,29 would be in the backfield!”

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said last month that he wasn’t sure if Murray would be limited during the team’s June 12-14 minicamp, but Murray sounds like he’s ready to go now, six weeks in advance.

Last year Murray played in 13 games, starting seven, and had 164 carries for 897 yards. This year the Cowboys will count on Murray to be their starter from Day One, and they’ll ride him as long as he can stay healthy.
