The Colts waved goodbye to Andrew Luck at the end of their rookie minicamp on Sunday and they won’t see him back in Indianapolis for another month thanks to the schedule at Stanford.
Luck is barred from working out at the Colts’ facility until the Stanford school year comes to a close, which means he will miss the organized team activities later this month. Luck said he plans to keep working with tight end Coby Fleener and wide receiver Griff Whalen, two Stanford teammates who are also with the Colts, but the brass in Indy wants to facilitate his ability to work out with players who aren’t in Palo Alto.
Owner Jim Irsay is making his private plane available to Luck to make it easier to set up workout sessions with teammates who live in other places. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne is down in Miami, for example, and Luck said he wants to make it happen.
“I’ll definitely use whatever means of transportation,’' Luck said, via Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, “especially if it’s Mr. Irsay’s stuff. Absolutely.”
Luck feels like he improved a lot during this weekend’s minicamp. With the help of Irsay’s pilots, he can keep improving even while he’s prepping for his final exams.
