The Cardinals are tight against the cap right now, but they are still looking to add veteran free agents to their roster.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the team is interested in re-signing linebacker Clark Haggans and defensive end Vonnie Holliday. Both men became unrestricted free agents after the 2011 season and haven’t generated much interest on the market. Somers expects both players to be back in the fold next month.

Haggans started 16 games for the Cardinals last year, but he would be returning as a backup this season. O’Brien Schofield and Sam Acho are ticketed for starting outside linebacker roles this season. The team is thin behind them, though, and Haggans already knows the system. Holliday was a rotation player on the defensive line last year and he would fill the same role in 2012 if he returns to the Cardinals.

Per Somers, the Cardinals aren’t concerned about creating cap space for the two players. It would be easier if they could get defensive end Calais Campbell, who they franchised this offseason, squared away with a new contract, although there are no signs that such a deal is close.
