Brandon Marshall’s lawyer says he’s been cleared in New York

Brandon Marshall’s lawyer says he will face no charges in connection with the March incident in which he was accused of punching a woman outside a New York City nightclub.

Attorney Harvey Steinberg told Michelle Beisner of NFL Network that Marshall has been cleared in the incident, due to a lack of evidence.

The accusation against Marshall came shortly before the Dolphins traded Marshall to the Bears for two third-round draft picks, but it didn’t become public until after the trade was completed. That led to some speculation that the Dolphins only traded Marshall because they were worried he couldn’t keep himself out of trouble off the field, and even that the Dolphins might have hoodwinked the Bears into trading for Marshall without knowing about the incident. Both teams have insisted, however, that the incident wasn’t a factor in the trade.

And now it appears that the incident won’t be a factor affecting Marshall going forward.

Whew, that’s a load off my mind. I was worried for a second that athletes would actually be held accountable for their actions.

I know you probably fancy your self superior to Brandon Marshall–in both morality and intelligence–but maybe you should derive some some common sense from his quote the other day.

“In a club with cameras, there aren’t a lot of places a 6’4 230 pound man can hide.”

  2. “Cutler to Marshall down the sideline…Touchdown!”

Memo to rest of NFC North…Copy and save, you’ll be hearing this alot.

You hear that? That’s the sound of a NFC North DB wetting himself.

    Sorry, Megatron holds that distinction

  4. Peanut Tillman adjusted after the first 2011 game and handled him like a baby last November…And the year before, Megataunt cost the Lions a game-winning TD by show-boating in the end zone.

  5. How smaller is Marshall’s wallet now. Where is that Commish to suspend this off field behaviour.

  6. @ProDolphinsTalk – You’re just sorry he’s gone, and now that he’s cleared, the ‘Phins look even dumber.

You forgot one thing: Marshall can’t catch! Cutler to Marshall down the sideline…. not again! Wide open and he dropped it! Just like against the Jets!”

  8. Nice one… Slickmarine

And so true! You can add and he just cost the Bears a 15 yard penalty for Unsportsmanlike or mysteriously runs out of bounds on his own or causes chaos in the huddle or sits out for 2-4 Games because he WILL be Suspended by the League as a repeat offender, crime charges or not.

  9. Marshall won’t be suspended. Despite three arrests and at least two known other incidents Goodell has suspended this buffoon a total of ONE GAME.

I guess that’s not a “pattern of behavior”.

Now if he was a white QB with 2 Super Bowl rings?

  10. Cutler to Marshall that hook up will go all the way to Canton. Well that is if canton gets a franchise in the new USFL.

  11. All the butt-hurt Phins fans trolling every Marshall story is hilarious. Trying to make it seem like the Phins got the better end of the deal by bringing up Marshall’s legal troybles and saying he cant catch TD passes doesn’t change the fact that your team got screwed over by Bears management and you lost a pro bowl receiver for two thirds.

  12. A mentally unhinged ticking time bomb – it’s just a matter of “when.”

Puts up nice stats that look great on paper, but even when his attitude is adjusted, doesn’t do much in helping his team. Loads of Red zone/end zone easy ball dropsies last season and beyond. Case in point: when he caught 21 passes from Orton in Denver, The Broncos still lost that game!

It’s a honeymoon now between Cutler and him, but just wait until he doesn’t get thrown to enough or his stonehands cost The Bears points – all bets will be off!

  13. Hey Fin fans- regardless of Marshall’s inconsistent RZ hands, he was still traded for peanuts. I fully expect to see your pathetic team in the AFC east basement for quite some time, while the Bears will be making the playoffs in the toughest division in football. Good luck with that!

  14. These Dolphin fans/Marshall haters are funny.

Guy put up 2228 yards and 9 TDs with scrubs throwing to him in Miami. Now he’s got a legit QB (again) and the sky is the limit.

But you guys keep choking on those sour grapes. I’m sure they’ll start to taste better sooner or later.

  15. sad that people claim flase stuff in hopes of that big payday… worlds broken… hope the economy recovers and there is a return of common decency and morals.

hope he can forgive.. and just focus on football.
