Claiborne hopes to be 100 percent by June 12 minicamp

The Dallas Cowboys traded up from No. 14 to No. 6 in the first round of the draft to select cornerback Morris Claiborne. They did so despite the fact that he has a wrist injury that continues to keep him from working out.

According to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com, Claiborne intends to return for a minicamp that opens on June 12.

I hope to be fully recovered and ready for that,” Claiborne said.

Claiborne suffered torn ligaments in his wrist during last year’s regular-season game against Alabama. He missed no time, and he had surgery after the Scouting Combine, at the recommendation of multiple teams.

Last week, pins were removed from the wrist.

“I’m so eager and ready,” Claiborne said. “It’s hard just sitting there, watching, knowing you can do it but you’ve just got one small thing wrong with you holding you back. But I’m looking forward to it and trying to push that up.”

The Cowboys are counting on Claiborne and free-agent arrival Brandon Carr to improve a secondary that will face Mike Vick, Eli Manning, and Robert Griffin III twice this year. Along with Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Andy Dalton, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler, and Joe Flacco once.
