We can add one more to the list of teams that have decided not to appear on Hard Knocks.
Seahawks G.M. John Schneider said today on PFT Live that the team was asked about its interest in appearing in this summer’s installment of Hard Knocks, the HBO show that goes inside one NFL team’s training camp, and that the Seahawks declined.
Schneider said the Seahawks weren’t formally offered the spot, but that when they were approached, they decided they didn’t want to do it. The Jets, who had a highly entertaining stint on Hard Knocks two years ago, are widely believed to be the team HBO would most like to have on this year’s show, but G.M. Mike Tannenbaum said on PFT Live last week that they haven’t been formally offered the show.
The Texans, Redskins, 49ers and Falcons have all reportedly turned down Hard Knocks. As good a TV show as it is, it’s easy to see why: NFL coaches and general managers aren’t in the business of making good TV shows during training camp. They’re in the business of getting their teams ready to win games. And having cameras in every meeting room could easily serve as a distraction.
The one team that has said it’s interested in participating is Jacksonville, which is glad to take all the attention it can get.
