The bigger stories out of San Francisco (which focus on topics like the gushing over Randy Moss and the contention that the team didn’t pursue Peyton Manning, even if it did) have obscured a development regarding the lack of developments between the team and franchise-tagged safety Dashon Goldson.

Our corporate colleague at CSNBayArea.com, Matt Maiocco, recently reported that Goldson wants Eric Weddle money -- five years, $40 million.

As the team’s franchise player, Goldson can at any time sign a one-year, $6.2 million tender offer.

Goldson is the only 49er who has not participated in the team’s offseason workouts. Though few franchise players attend before signing a contract, franchise players are permitted to do so, if they so choose.
