Kendall Wright likely to miss Titans minicamp

The Titans might want to start wrapping their wide receivers in bubble wrap.

They’re waiting for Kenny Britt to get back on the field after a torn ACL and MCL ruined his 2011 season and now they’ve got a reason to be concerned about first-round pick Kendall Wright. Wright had to leave Thursday’s practice early after injuring his shoulder while trying to reel in a pass from Jake Locker.

“His shoulder is sore from falling on it,” Munchak said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “He went for a ball, trying to make a play – that is sort of in his DNA, to try and catch every ball. That is one he probably should’ve just let go. You don’t want anyone to get hurt obviously, but from what we can tell it is not something that is going to be long-term. He’ll be all right.”

While Munchak thinks Wright will be all right, he doesn’t think that he’ll be all right in time to take part in next week’s minicamp. Munchak said Wright is probably going to miss the last three days of practice for the Titans before they gather for training camp in July.

The Titans have the makings of a dynamic receiving duo with Britt and Wright. They just need to figure out a way to get them both on the field at the same time.

  1. I dont mean to come across as a Vince Young apologist, but why are the Titans surrounding their QBs with solid receivers now and not when they had Young. Vince has flamed out now but at times he had flashes of greatness without much help from his teammates. Oh well. The Titans’ offense now is very potent especially if Chris Johnson plays at the level he’s being paid at. I hope they have a good season

  2. Wright has been very impressive so far in OTA’s, let him rest up for training camp. I’m sure if it was the regular season he’d be playing next week.

I believe in Locker as the future, but part of me wants Hass to keep it going until he runs out of gas. With an accurate, savvy veteran behind center, this offense could be top 10 good

  3. Wow Locker is already hanging his receivers out to dry…not a good sign for Titans fans.

I think that everything to do with Jeff Fisher and his run-first offense. I’m a Titans fan myself and the whole Vince Young “era” was a mess (and yes I know he had a winning record as a starter). Vince, in all honesty, is a decent starter but not worthy of the draft status he earned back in the day. He’s a head case that is just ok as a starter. At Texas the offense was catered to him by Mack Brown and when Vince got to the NFL he found everything to be a bit different. I don’t think our receivers were awful, but I also think Vince did himself in with some of his actions. Not knocking the guy completely but if he had what it took he wouldn’t have signed with Buffalo to be a backup—he would be starting for a team (and there are several teams that need a starter—Miami, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Seattle).
