Earlier this week, we told you that Candice Davis Price, wife of Buccaneers defensive tackle Brian Price, would be trying to qualify for the Summer Olympics in the 100 meter hurdles.

Her event was on Saturday and the good news is that the Buccaneers won’t have to go without Price for any part of training camp as he goes to London to cheer on his sweetheart. The bad news is that there’s no need for him to go because Davis Price did not qualify for a place on the team this time around.

Davis Price ran her semifinal heat in 12.85 seconds, which was good enough for ninth overall among the competitors. Only the top eight runners advance to the finals, however, which meant that Nia Ali grabbed the last spot with a time of 12.84 seconds. Even more painful is the fact that 12.85 would have been good enough for third in the finals, with the caveat that it was run into a headwind.

Third gets you a spot on the Olympic team, one that went to Lolo Jones instead. Jones also has a link to the NFL, albeit a more tangential one than Davis Price. Jones and Tim Tebow got lumped together after Jones revealed she’s waiting to have sex until after she’s married, providing some locker room fodder for the Jets.
