Former Baylor basketball player accused of extorting RG3

AP

In the grand scheme of crimes committed by former Baylor basketball players, this one is fairly tame.

But it’s still intriguing.  And perhaps troubling.

According to KWTX.com, former Baylor basketball player Richard Hurd has been arrested for allegedly attempting to extort Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who played college football at Baylor.

Hurd is in federal custody, due to appear before a magistrate judge at 2:00 p.m. CT.

Details of the alleged scheme aren’t known.  Inevitably, they will be.

RG3 is a Republican, therefore he is NOT dumb to fall for whatever scheme Hurd was attempting

Because that has absolutely everything to do with this…

  4. It’s too late for extortion, doesn’t everyone already know that RGIII played at Baylor?

  5. This could get interesting… RGIII has a clean image but who knows what kind of stuff he’s been involved in.

And if its bad, Goodell might go after him… He did it with Terell Pryor

  6. There’s a joke in here about DC and having to deal with extortion. I’m just not clever enough to make one.

  7. I have to agree with the majority in that he must have something good on RG3.

It would be best for RG3 to come forth and tell what the secret is BEFORE it gets leaked to the media.

  8. Wait a minute, his last name is HURD? Is he related to Sam Hurd? AHHHHAAAA. We have a STORY HERE PEOPLE!!!!!

  9. Wow.. I went to Baylor and I know this guys. Here’s some info on this guy for those of you who are interested, hopefully I don’t get sued for defamation (that’s not a joke)

This guy is a piece of work. He only got on the bball team bc his daddy was a coach and he was absolutely horrible. He’d go in the games when we were up by 30, and he looked so incredibly nervous and would miss 3 pointers very badly.. By like 2 feet.

He actually sued one of my best friends a couple of years ago. He found her dog that she had lost a few hours before.
He held the dog and demanded she pay him like $500 bc the dog was malnourished or something. Don’t believe me? It went to judge Judy… No bs. And she ripped into him lol. Look it up if u can…

I fail to see that logic. I mean, if he had something really good on him, RG3 would have probably just paid and tried to keep it from coming out instead of letting it get to a point where this guy is getting charged with extortion.

  11. Normally if you are a multi-millionaire and did something bad enough to be extorted for it, you better off paying the hush money and getting the person to sign a confidentially agreement rather than have your dirty laundry aired in public. My guess is it wasn’t that big of a deal if RGIII decided to call the cops (and essentially confess to what ever the issue is) instead of paying for silence.

dryzzt23- dude, lay off. As a fellow Republican I am also excited about the worldwide celebrity Republican count increasing by an entire 20 percent with Griff’s entrance into the NFL. Yeah, that’s right, a 20 percent increase, suck on that Obama, we used to have five, and now we have six (Chuck Liddell, Gary Sinise, Donald Trump, and Tim Tebow). But dryzzt, you’re actually kind of ruining it by pissing the rest of the world off with your stupid comments. Everyone who cares knows, and everyone who doesn’t know or care is being turned off to the party, the Redskins, and Robert Griffin by your quasi-trollish comments. If there’s one political party and one NFL team that really don’t need bad PR it’s the Republicans and the Redskins.

If you want to brag about Griff being smart, talk about how he graduated from both high school and college in three years, not by lumping him in with Pat Buchanan, Brett Favre, John Cena, and Stephen Baldwin (who was dumb enough, by the way, to get all of his money schemed away by Bernie Madoff)

  13. @daabears, slight exaggeration, but not really. Baylor would beat some non-conference opponents by 20-30 points. These would be very small schools, I guess Grambing State or Savannah State come to mind, or even some junior colleges around Waco. His playing time would be in the final minutes of such games.

  14. CNN covered this last night. The basketball player ask for $50,000 or else he’d reveal that no Hall of Fame QB ever wore a sleeve on one arm and one glove on one hand (not to mention a shield).

  15. Ah, I was waiting for it. There’s peytonsneck18. You must have your phone set to alert you on any redskins news or rg3. You hate because your Colts might have made the wrong pick. It’s ok lord knows
the skins have done that in the past. Get over it.

  16. Stay away from those Baylor basketball players. Last time there was a scandal involving them, somebody ended up dead and the head coach was in front trying to cover it up.
