Nick Fairley will plead not guilty to DUI, eluding

The Lions’ offseason arrests are becoming difficult to keep track of, but we’re doing the best we can. There have been six of them, two by second-year defensive tackle Nick Fairley.

On Wednesday, Fairley’s attorney informed the Detroit Free Press that his client will plead not guilty Thursday to charges of driving under the influence and attempting to elude police stemming from a May 27 incident in Alabama.

During the arrest, Fairley was also cited for reckless driving, no proof of insurance, and an open container.

Fairley’s other offseason arrest occurred on April 3, when he was charged with second-degree marijuana possession. He has a hearing for that case set for July 31.

Fairley has yet to be hit with an NFL suspension, but it would be a surprise if he were eligible to play in Week One.
