The National Football League may not want him, but maybe Major League Baseball will.

Unemployed receiver Terrell Owens was named MVP of the 2012 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game on Saturday, according to David Collier of ESPNDallas.com.

T.O. has three hits, including a late-game triple that he considered stretching into an inside-the-park home run.

Also participating in the event, hosted by Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki, were Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant and former Cowboys receiver Drew Pearson — who also was Owens’ former boss with the Allen Wranglers.

Bryant nearly hit “pitcher” Charles Barkley with a line drive.  Bryant at one point awkwardly slid into second base, giving Cowboys fans at the Frisco, Texas event a scare.

Of course, if Bryant had suffered a serious injury while sliding, the Cowboys always could have signed T.O. to replace him.

We’ve got a feeling they’d be more inclined to sign Pearson.
