Oregon poll shows Packers more popular than nearby Seahawks

AlphaDuck-07web

Maybe because their closets are already full of green and yellow Ducks gear, they just don’t want to change their pallete.

Either way, Oregon fans seem to prefer the Packers to the nearby Seahawks.

When Public Policy Polling asked Oregon residents to name their favorite NFL team, they chose the one more than 2,000 miles away (from Portland) than the team less than 200 miles away.

According to Bob Wolfley of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the 686 Oregon respondents were asked to choose their preference between the Cowboys, Broncos, Packers, Giants, Raiders, Chargers, 49ers, Seahawks or “someone else.”

“Someone else” actually won in a landslide, with 34 percent choosing the field of the other 24 teams not named. Maybe the Jaguars are big in Klamath Falls, who knows?

But it is somewhat surprising that the Packers at 16 percent were next, ahead of the Seahawks (15 percent) and the 49ers (10 percent).

The Packers have the first requirement for being popular (they’re good at football), but the interest from so far away is a bit bizarre, as they have no Ducks or Beavers (Oregon State) on their roster at the moment.

We now return you to July 5.
