Elvis Dumervil’s lawyer: It is likely no charges will be filed

AP

Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil was arrested for a felony count of aggravated assault with a firearm in Miami on Saturday, but his lawyer says he doesn’t expect Dumervil to be charged when all the information about what happened comes to light.

Attorney Harvey Steinberg told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he believes Dumervil will be cleared after authorities in Miami complete their investigation.

No charges have been filed,” Steinberg said. “No aggravated assault or assault took place. And it is likely that once the full investigation is complete, no charges will be filed against Mr. Dumervil.”

Few details have emerged about what led Dumervil to be arrested on Saturday night. Aggravated assault with a firearm is a third-degree felony that could lead to a sentence of up to five years in prison.

  1. Doom & Gloom!! He’s back! Time for Elvis and Von to tear up the NFL, 30 sacks combined!!

  2. Miami knows it’s bread and butter. Don’t want to run off NFL players and their money from South Beach.

  3. When was the last time an arrested player’s lawyer DIDN’T say “it is likely that once the full investigation is complete, no charges will be filed”???

  4. Between guys like Brandon Marshall, Perrish Cox, DJ Williams, Dumervil, how long until the Broncos have to start selling Harvey Steinberg jerseys to make back some of the money they’ve paid him?

  5. If it was me, I’d already have a life sentence, maybe a $500,000 bail before trial. But if you’re a millionaire you get charges dropped and a $7,500 bail…

  6. 2 guys you listed and one soon to be (DJ) are goners. Let’s wait and see what Elvis did or didn’t do before labeling him a waste. Everyone in Denver can’t stand Williams – he’s gone soon.

Wasn’t making a list of the criminals currently on the Broncos roster. Was listing some of the guys who’ve been funneling Pat Bowlen’s money to Harvey Steinberg the last few years.

  8. lots of innocent dudes getting arrested lately. or lots of full of crap lawyers. my money is on the latter
