Patriots push the brakes on the Summer of Gronk

Ah, to be young and rich and Rob Gronkowski.

The Patriots tight end has enjoyed quite a run, with a new contract, an appearance on a reality dating show, a win in a celebrity home run derby and most recently, a tasteful nude cover of a magazine.

But according to Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe, the Patriots have put an end to the fun.

Citing a league source, the report said Gronkowski “has been told by the team that his summer of Gronk, so to speak, is over.”

They can only hope this episode doesn’t end in a hospital room, with Gronkowski trying to learn to swing his arms.

It’s no surprise they want his head in the game with training camp just around the corner. But no matter how uptight an organization is, watching Gronkowski’s like a cartoon for adults, and part of the reason the league is as great as it is.
