A Northern California hospital has named its cancer treatment center after Pro Football Hall of Famer Gene Upshaw.

The Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center in Truckee, Calif., was opened Tuesday.

The former NFLPA executive director died in 2008 of pancreatic cancer.

Upshaw played 15 years for the Raiders, and was widely recognized as one of the greatest offensive linemen to ever play the game. He was named to the NFL’s 75th Anniversary All-Time team, and was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1987.

His widow Terri attended the opening, along with former Raiders running back Marcus Allen and coach Tom Flores.
