Lynch officially charged with DUI

Arrested over the weekend for DUI, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch now officially faces DUI charges.

According to our pal Dave “Softy” Mahler of KJR radio in Seattle, prosecutors in Alameda County, California have formally charged Lynch with drunk driving.

Lynch’s blood-alcohol concentration was measured to be in excess of the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

As we explained on Tuesday, an eventual conviction or guilty plea doesn’t necessarily mean Lynch will be suspended. DUI incidents fall not under the personal-conduct policy but the substance-abuse policy. And the substance-abuse policy specifies that first-time DUI offenders will ordinarily be fined two game checks, absent aggravating circumstances.

It remains to be seen whether Lynch’s prior non-DUI incidents constitute “aggravating circumstances.” Seahawks fans are surely feeling aggravated about the entire situation.
