Eagles, Colts swing pre-camp trade

Ollie Ogbu Pic

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Sunday that they have traded cornerback D.J. Johnson to the Indianapolis Colts, in exchange for defensive tackle Ollie Ogbu (pictured).

Ogbu, an undersized pass-rushing tackle, went undrafted out of Penn State last year and was signed by the Colts as a rookie free agent. A practice squad-caliber prospect, Ogbu will struggle to make the Eagles’ 53-man roster.

The 26-year-old Johnson has been bouncing around the league since going undrafted out of Jackson State in 2009. He’s spent time with the Eagles, Giants, Vikings, Buccaneers, and Redskins. So this will be Johnson’s sixth team.

Johnson has a better chance to make his new team’s roster than Ogbu because the Colts are very weak at cornerback and Johnson has some playing experience.

In ten career appearances, Johnson has made ten tackles.
