Tim Bulman is coming home. For now.

The Patriots have signed veteran defensive lineman Tim Bulman to a one-year deal, according to a source with knowledge of the transaction. Bulman, a native of Milton, Massachusetts who played at Boston College, spent five seasons with the Texans and one with the Cardinals.

He has experience in both 4-3 and 3-4 defenses, which is a good thing since the Pats use 3-4 and 4-3 fronts interchangeably.

If Bulman survives the cuts from 90 to 53, he’ll be a backup at best; he has only two starts in six NFL seasons.
