Colts receiver Reggie Wayne showed up to training camp in style riding with a caravan of three Humvees with soldiers from the Indiana National Guard.
When Wayne stepped out of one of the Humvees, he was wearing camouflage and said, “Reggie Wayne reporting for duty.” But he said he wasn’t just playing dress-up: He had a serious point to make.
“I don’t want people to think this is a joke,” Wayne told Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star. “I fully support the military. They are the heroes. . . . I want our team to take a page out of their book. These guys are what you call true heroes. I appreciate that.”
And the members of the National Guard no doubt appreciated getting an up-close look at Colts camp as they escorted Wayne back to work.
