With most teams close to a week into training camp, the inevitable dings are leading to the inevitbale wave of fill-in-the-blanks transactions.

That’s what happened in Arizona, as the Cardinals announced they had signed running back Thomas Clayton and offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger.

The Cards have been thin at running back, with Beanie Wells still on the PUP list because of offseason knee surgery and Ryan Williams taking time off as his rehab continues. They also lost Javarris James for a week or more with an abductor muscle injury.

Clayton has spent time with the 49ers, Browns, Seahawks and Patriots.

Ohrnberger was drafted by the Patriots as well, and reunites with earlier Cards signing Russ Hochstein.

Of the pair of them, Ohrnberger’s the one worth watching, as the Cardinals depth inside is a little shaky.
