Jabari Greer has sports hernia procedure

The Saints are going to be without cornerback Jabari Greer for most of the preseason.

Coach Joe Vitt said that Greer underwent a sports hernia procedure to repair a groin injury on Thursday. Greer suffered the injury on Tuesday and was held out of practice until then.

Vitt said that Greer is expected back at practice the week before the final preseason game against the Texans. That doesn’t leave him much time to shake off any rust before the start of the regular season, but Vitt said he isn’t worried about that.

“He will definitely be ready for the regular season. Some guys are quicker than others,” Vitt said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Greer started every game for the Saints last season and is expected to be one of their starting cornerbacks this season as well. He signed an extension worth $15.6 million over three years that kicks in after the end of the 2012 season.

i am sure this is somehow goodell’s fault

It’s definitely not Goodell’s fault you’re an idiot. Got that one down all by yourself. Congrats!

  2. “erictheclown” how’s your team doing?
Looking forward to another successful season?

  3. Greer will be alright coming in the week before the season starts, he’s a great player.
He was one of my favorites while he was playing for Buffalo. He is definitely a unique Cornerback, not super fast straight line, but he is quick to the ball. Greer has good hops and great hands. His only drawback is the fact that he sometimes takes chances when he shouldn’t, especially going for the interception with no help behind him. I’m not sure if he still takes chances like that since leaving Buffalo, but if not than he has probably gotten even better. I wish Buffalo would have kept him around.
