Browns linebacker Chris Gocong suffered what appeared to be a serious leg injury in practice Saturday morning.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer speculated it could be an Achilles injury, based on Gocong’s reaction.
While defending a pass in the end zone, Gocong planted and then reached down to his lower right leg. He never hit the ground, and there was no contact before his reaction.
He then knelt, holding onto the area, before falling over onto his back, covering his face in pain, before he was helped into a cart by trainers.
The Browns haven’t commented on his status yet.
Gocong has started all 32 games for the Browns since coming over in a trade with Philadelphia.
UPDATE: 11:07 a.m. ET: Cabot tweeted that head coach Pat Shurmur said Gocong would be sent for an MRI and “Says they’re hoping nothing serious.”
