Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr has been proclaimed by Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan as this year’s best free agent signing, but Carr has a bigger goal than that for himself: He wants to be the best player in the NFL at his position.
Carr believes the Jets’ Darrelle Revis is the best in the league right now, but Carr’s hard work is all about surpassing Revis as the best cornerback in the NFL.
“My next goal is to become the best cornerback in the NFL, point blank. And get some Super Bowls on the way,” Carr told CBS-DFW. “It’s Revis Island right now, so he has the throne, but that’s why I’m out here working every day, grinding and working.”
In four NFL seasons, Carr has already gone from a little-known fifth-round draft pick out of Grand Valley State to a cornerback worthy of a $50 million contract. It’s good news for the Cowboys that he isn’t satisfied with that, and won’t be satisfied until he’s the best.
