MRI reveals shoulder sprain for Ed Dickson

The Ravens got a bit of good news at tight end on Friday when the MRI of Ed Dickson’s shoulder revealed a sprain.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the diagnosis means that Dickson should be recovered in enough time to be on the field when the Ravens open the season against the Bengals. Dickson, who caught 54 passes last season, injured himself against the Falcons on Thursday night.

With Dennis Pitta already ruled out for the rest of the preseason because of a broken hand, it is likely that the Ravens will look for some help at the position to get them through the rest of camp and preseason. Billy Bajema and Davon Drew are the only tight ends with experience currently on the roster, leaving the team thinner than you’d like at this point.

Given the struggles along the offensive line on Friday night, the Ravens would likely prioritize blocking skills in any new acquisition. While most of the issues came in the interior, another body to block on the outside would allow Baltimore devote more help to the inside.

  1. When did it happen you ask? On the TD throw from Flacco. He zipped it so hard, Dickson ends up with a sprained shoulder.

And yes the line up the middle looked rough, but what do you expect when Gradkowski, a mid round pick rookie, is out there with the 1st team, along with Bobby Williams who’s new to the system. It was pretty rough, but not surprising. Wait til Birk steps in and Williams gets a grip on things. No worries Ravens fans.

ravens bengals season opener should be a good one

Especially if you’re a Ravens fan. Everyone enjoys it when their team dominates an opponent. Bengals won’t stand a chance.

I didn’t watch the game, but this comment has to be sarcasm, right? If not and that’s really how Dickson sprained his shoulder, I’d be worried about the TE position Raven fans. If he sprains it catching a ball, how many pieces will it shatter in when he takes a big hit? Mendenhall 2.0

  4. I would like to see them take a look at Kris Wilson. He had a couple catches last year, including one in the playoffs. Davon Drew is still a project, but Bajema showed some nice hands.
