The Ravens got a bit of good news at tight end on Friday when the MRI of Ed Dickson’s shoulder revealed a sprain.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the diagnosis means that Dickson should be recovered in enough time to be on the field when the Ravens open the season against the Bengals. Dickson, who caught 54 passes last season, injured himself against the Falcons on Thursday night.
With Dennis Pitta already ruled out for the rest of the preseason because of a broken hand, it is likely that the Ravens will look for some help at the position to get them through the rest of camp and preseason. Billy Bajema and Davon Drew are the only tight ends with experience currently on the roster, leaving the team thinner than you’d like at this point.
Given the struggles along the offensive line on Friday night, the Ravens would likely prioritize blocking skills in any new acquisition. While most of the issues came in the interior, another body to block on the outside would allow Baltimore devote more help to the inside.
