Bears rookie safety Brandon Hardin was taken off the field on a stretcher Saturday night with what appeared to be a neck injury.

Hardin went to the ground after hitting Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen with his helmet. He gave a thumbs up on his way off the field, giving hope that the injury wasn’t too serious. Hardin provided more on that front Sunday morning when he sent out a tweet telling his followers that he’s going to be okay after the scary moment on Saturday night.

We’re not sure what that means for Hardin’s immediate future, but it’s certainly better than some of the worst case scenarios that run through your head in those situations. We’ll look for a more detailed update on Hardin’s condition when Lovie Smith next meets with the media.

  1. Awesome news. It may sound ridiculous but it’s actually great that he was able to tweet that: small muscle dexterity (ie. thumbs tweeting) indicates little or no nerve damage.

  2. Wish him the best! Looked nasty when it happened. With Hardin’s neck and Conte’s stinger almost wish the Bears didn’t trade all their 3rd round picks for that WR guy… We need them to draft more safeties!! (joking)
