A quartet of injured 49ers returned to practice on Monday, and no name is bigger than linebacker Aldon Smith.

Smith exited the team’s first preseason game with a hip injury 10 days ago.

Also returning, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, were tight end Delanie Walker (knee), linebacker Ahmad Brooks, and cornerback Perrish Cox. (The reasons for the Brooks and Cox injuries weren’t disclosed.)

Running back LaMichael James did’t practice, even though he declared on Twitter than he’s 100 percent after a Saturday night injury against the Texans. Running back Brandon Jacobs is on crutches with a knee injury.
