Redskins linebacker London Fletcher missed both practice and the team’s game against the Bears last week.
According to coach Mike Shanahan, Fletcher wasn’t feeling well and Fletcher declined to offer any more details on his condition. The linebacker returned to practice on Monday with Shanahan saying that he felt good, but Fletcher stopped short of declaring himself ready to play against the Colts in the big “QB Showdown Rivalry” preseason game on Saturday.
“We’ll see,” Fletcher said, via Mark Maske of the Washington Post. “I hope so.”
If Fletcher practices all week and is on the field Saturday, there’s not much reason to worry about whatever kept him out of the game against the Bears. Fletcher was highly productive last season and projects to a leading role in the Washington defense again this season.
He is 37, though, so a failure to launch again this weekend would likely lead to a more anxious reaction about what’s bothering him and how long it might be before he’s able to take his place in the middle of the defense.
