Conflicting reports on David DeCastro injury, neither good

No matter whose report you believe, the news was not good for the Steelers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Steelers right guard David DeCastro tore his MCL, dislocated his kneecap and damaged his patella tendon, but that his ACL was intact.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that DeCastro tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee, according to a source.

It will at least be a long break for their first-rounder.

The Steelers weren’t expecting anything different, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had already blamed the FieldTurf in Buffalo for the problem.

Losing their right guard throws another wrinkle into an offensive line that was already in flux, likely plugging Ramon Foster back into the starting lineup.

UPDATE: 2:42 p.m. ET: Rapoport has updated his report, saying DeCastro’s ACL is not torn.
