Precautionary MRI likely coming for Jerraud Powers

The Colts may not have to go out and find another cornerback.

Cornerback Jerraud Powers left Saturday’s game against the Redskins with a knee sprain. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, all signs point to Powers being cleared of any structural damage.

The source explained that Powers felt tightness in the knee after tackling Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III early in the game. The knee stiffened, and the coaches and training staff promptly pulled Powers. At one point, Powers tried to return, but the team shut him down.

An MRI likely will be performed, the source said, for precautionary reasons.

It looks like the team is being extra careful on this one, which makes sense since Powers is pretty much all they have at the cornerback position.
