The Titans activated Kenny Britt from the PUP list earlier this week, now they’re just waiting for word about whether he’ll go on the suspended list.
They’re about to get their answer. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reported and PFT has confirmed that the NFL will suspend Britt for one game for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. According to Florio, the suspension is the result of multiple incidents with police, with Britt’s July DUI arrest triggering the discipline. It had been widely reported that Britt had eight brushes with the law in the last three years, but Florio says that the league identified 10 incidents in the letter informing Britt of the suspension.
Britt has three days to appeal, a decision that Florio is reporting he hasn’t made yet. Britt’s inclination is to accept the suspension because it’s just for one game. Britt isn’t likely to be 100 percent as a result of his knee injury in Week One, which would let him serve the suspension before he was ready to be a big contributor on the field.
The Titans were hoping to hear Britt’s fate before making cuts on Friday. While Roger Goodell reserves the right to dispense further punishment once Britt’s July DUI case runs its course, the Titans can prepare to move on with Britt come Week Two of the regular season.
UPDATE 7:10 p.m. ET: PFT has learned that Britt will not appeal the suspension.
