New details have emerged regarding the shooting of a Raiders fan earlier this month outside University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

According to Jennifer Thomas of AZFamily.com, the shooter is a former police officer, who may have fired in self-defense.

Michael Horan, 57, had attended the Raiders-Cardinals game with his wife. They were at their vehicle during the third quarter of the game, at which time they were involved in a confrontation with Chris Knight, 29.

Knight, who was wearing silver face paint, reportedly had been aggressive toward motorists attempting to leave the parking lot where the incident occurred. Horan called police after shooting Knight, claiming that it occurred accidentally.

Horan currently faces no charges. Shot in the face, Knight’s eye was removed. He has had multiple procedures to remove the bullet and reconstruct parts of his face. Knight’s family has set up a web page for collecting donations; he has no insurance and was the sole provider for his family.
